BREEDER MARCEL BORGER: 'WE AS BREEDERS DEPEND ON INITIATIVES LIKE BORCULO JST FOAL AUCTION'

Jun 7, 2018

The first edition of the Borculo JST Foal Auction at Jumping Schröder Tubbergen turned out to be a success with a fantastic average of 16,000 euros for five auctioned foals. Our new concept of organizing a second auction, next to our main auction in August, of earlier born and exclusively bred jumping foals got highly rated afterwards. Marcel Borger breeder of the most expensive foal Dubai Z (picture) said about it: ‘This new auction is a very good initiative. Maybe easy to say for me now but still I can’t tell anything else. I was already confident in advance. ‘Borculo’ is a household name in the horse industry and beside that I’m really focussing on the sport in my breeding and that’s in line with this initiative. At a top show you’re able to sell directly to riders and sponsors. It increases the chance your foal ends up at the right place.’

‘Generally I think we as breeders have to support such initiatives. We depend on these to sell our products well’, thus Borger, who we will see back at the main auction, end of August with his colt by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve out of an Emilion x Jasper dam.

Alex Postma, with his daughter Cynthia buyer of Dubai Z, confirmed Borgers words: ‘To me this auction is a great initiative. It suits well at the new style of the international show of the Schröder brothers. To me it would be fine if they had auctioned some more foals.’
