As per tradition, Elite Foal Auction Borculo auctions a formidable collection in August. Even before the collection was published online, there was already abundant interest in the Borculo foals. Magnificent movers
A frequently heard comment made by colleagues to selectors Wouter Plaizier and Nol Gerritsen while they were on the road: “You snatch away all the good foals!” And that was an accurate observation, never before the top layer of the auction has been so broad. Dressage foal enthusiasts do not have to look far for high quality in the collection. Among the 43 dressage foals the label ‘remarkable’ is more the rule than the exception. The first champion sash has already been awarded to one of the auction foals. Nairobi LMD (s.Nashiville Star) was crowned champion of the Oldenburg inspection. The half-sister of the champion stallion Le Formidable is also for sale during the auction. So Vienna is bred out of the same dam as the high-profile KWPN stallions Le Formidable and Four Legends.
New duo adopts strict selection policy
Foals with a compelling pedigree, a strong movement mechanism and alluring looks; the jumper collection is definitely ‘Borculo-worthy’. This year, a new duo hit the road to find the finest foals. The seasoned Henk van de Broek is responsible for the collection jumper foals together with breeding enthusiast Jos Swinkels. They were able to secure the much-wanted Creatyon van HH. A colt out of Maikel van der Vleuten’s 1.50m mare Dywis van HH. Plus, there are more offspring of mares that proved their capacities in sport or at tests. The dam of Sominka (s.Denzel van ‘t Meulenhof) for example obtained 90 points for reflexes.
Dutch soil
For many years, Foal Auction Borculo has ranked among the most esteemed foal auctions in the Netherlands. Borculo-foals find their way to the (top level) sport across the globe. Only a few stallions sire multiple foals in the collection, a strong damline in which sport performance is deeply embedded, prevails.
