EXCLUSIVE BLOOD PROVES POPULAR IN JUMPING COLLECTION ELITE FOAL AUCTION BORCULO

Aug 30, 2018

On day 1 of the Elite Foal Auction Borculo the jumping foals came under the auction hammer. In the appealing accommodation of PSC Lichtenvoorde in Vragender, Netherlands, the buyers were clearly after the more exclusive blood. This was the case with top seller Conner de la Vie Z (photo). This fantastic colt is very rare, as an offspring by Cumano out of the fantastic broodmare Tuut Tuut de la Vie (by Heartbreaker). After a spectacular bidding duel Conner de la Vie was auctioned at € 40,000. A telephone bidder from the United States turned out to have the upper hand.

A similar story applied to Baloulotte van de Eijkhof Z (by Balou du Rouet). This filly is bred out of Linotte de Sohan, an almost legendary broodmare that already has produced six international top horses, including Chic Hin D Hyrencourt, the recent winner of CSI Twente. For € 24,000, this exclusive foal stays in the Netherlands. The same amount was paid for Noble Cornet (Cornet Obolensky x Corland). This remarkably appealing colt was purchased by a combination of Dutch owners. Cornet Obolensky’s blood seemed also popular this year, as his daughter Narjolijn HRC (ds. Zirocco Blue VDL), bred out of the direct dam line of Arezzo VDL, was sold for € 19,000.

Bred through ICSI

With € 20,000, two foals brought in even more. One of them is Northern Light (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Nabab de Rêve), a full brother to Darry Lou (Beezie Madden). Also by Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve is Torc-Falls-DB, closely related to Mylord Carthago, and sold after a Russian bid of € 18,000. Other new clients also purchased foals, like jumping rider Sjaak Sleiderink who left the auction venue as the new owner of some excellent foals.

Several strikingly bred and well-modelled foals ended up in the price category of € 15,000 to € 20,000. Among them are Narina I W (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve), related to Explosion W (Ben Maher), and New Nusha van ‘t Studutch (by Comme Il Faut), from the direct dam line of Usha van ‘t Roosakker. Both mares brought in € 16,000.

Eric Goossens, breeder of top seller Conner de la Vie Z, saw his efforts rewarded at Foal Auction Borculo. "It was certainly not easy to breed this colt, as it had to be done through ICSI," the Belgian explained, who acknowledged that his breeding product belonged to the favourites in advance. "But the question is always whether or not such expectations are met. I’m thankful towards the organization that everything went so well. In my opinion this is all very professionally organized and I hope to be back here next year."
